Ann used a red velvet cake mix and cream cheese frosting for her valentine cake balls - use your imagination to come up with your own combination! Bake the cake in a 9x13 pan, let cool completely and cut into fourths. Take each section and crumble completely into a large mixing bowl. Add one half to three quarters of a container of frosting and mix - cake should be moist enough to make forming balls easy.
Next, take a small scoop and form the balls, rolling them between your hand forming a smooth outside. Place on parchment lined cookie sheets, freeze for at least 2 hours.
Before you take the first sheet our of the freezer, melt your chocolate. Ann likes to use a large glass measuring cup! A microwave is the easiest method, melt for about 1 minute, stir and repeat every 30 seconds until the chocolate is melted.
Get those cake balls out of the freezer stick a toothpick in each and dip completely in the chocolate. When firm carefully remove the toothpick, cover the small hole with a drizzle of chocolate and sprinkles or other edible decoration. Post pictures on our website of your creations!!
